Rama grew up with beads. In Ghana, they are not decoration — they are language. A color worn at a naming ceremony, a pattern carried between grandmothers, a strand that crosses water without losing its meaning. When Rama moved to Duncan, BC, she brought the beads with her.

She travels back to source them herself. Not from a catalog. Not from a wholesaler. She walks the markets in Kumasi and Cape Coast, selects by weight and light, and packs them in her luggage. Every bead in every piece has been held in her hands before it becomes yours.

She makes one piece at a time. There is no studio, no production line, no assistant. One woman, one needle, one thread pulled tight. The Duncan Farmers Market on a Saturday morning. The kitchen table on a Tuesday night.

What you wear carries that.
